The Great Beauty (2013)
director: Paolo Sorrentino
Starting with a soundtrack that manages to travel between the cheesy and the erudite, Paolo is a master at creating atmospheres. As a good Italian filmmaker, he offers an ode to life, even if it is often completely meaningless.
If we all wear masks, wise men are those who know which ones are yours, and especially when they are wearing them. The director leads us with delicacy and a lot of beauty through the scary paths of doubts, hurts and false promises.
Sorrentino is a magician and I have no desire to unravel his tricks, as in life, I am only interested in the enchantment of the spectacle.
